Pro's news

Well, it has been a chilly but dry start to the season and that has not stopped the members from playing the game we love.

I have been particularly busy with teaching and taking in all the new deliveries in the shop, whilst trying to find space to display it. All the brands I have this year are from all the leading manufacturers and my aim is to give you all the best products in the industry at Glossop Golf Club.

I will be having a sale from Saturday for one week only on selected products from the winter clothing range which unfortunately due to the lockdown I was unable to sell through, so pop down and snap up a bargain!

I haven't had much time to play in any tournaments yet, apart from the Manchester Alliance and unfortunately, I am nursing a bad back which is preventing me from playing which is very frustrating.

Club news

Glossop had a very close match with Buxton & High Peak in the Archie Preston mixed knockout competition and in a very close match Buxton prevailed but I think everyone who played thoroughly enjoyed the competition.

Today was a very memorable day for our very own Elsie Johnson who with her very first shot of the day managed to achieve a hole in one with her trusty 3 wood, her first ever one!

Well done Elsie!

Golf on Tour

When it rains it pours...

They say ‘when it rains, it pours’ and Max Kieffer was soaked after sticking three balls in the water on the fifth play-off hole of the European Tour’s Austrian Open. America’s John Catlin proceeded to lift his third trophy in 13 European Tour starts.

On the LPGA Tour, former World No. 1 Lydia Ko stormed her way back into the winning circle with a seven-stroke victory at the Lotte Championship. An emphatic -28 winning score ended the New Zealander’s three-year winless run. We can only wonder what’s to come!

I’m sure Tour players appreciate their caddies but they can’t fold their caddies up into a small frame and put them in the boot of the car, can they? Well, they haven’t got everything after all then! The benefits of lasers

We can expect to hear plenty of chatter over the next month about the use of laser rangefinders at the upcoming PGA Championship. Many golfers have already invested in GPS technology to help them tackle the course, but a Bushnell laser might just be the final piece of the jigsaw.
